Job Description:
The Town of Fayston is seeking a motivated, hardworking individual to join our road crew. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with a variety of equipment in maintaining our roads. This is a seasonal position and, in the past, has been budgeted for about 8-9 weeks. The Town of Fayston currently has a three employee Road Crew, but would be willing to make this a full-time position for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate town equipment, including but not limited to bucket loaders, backhoes, road graders, and other heavy machinery (Note: CDL is not required for this position as these vehicles are not typically classified as commercial motor vehicles).
  • Perform road-side mowing to maintain clear visibility and proper drainage.
  • Wash and clean town bridges to ensure safety and preserve the longevity of infrastructure.
  • Assist with general maintenance and repair tasks for the town’s roadways and public works facilities.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure all work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Accurately report on time sheets to the Road Foreman daily activities according to scope of work.
  • Ability to operate various types of heavy equipment safely and efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Willingness to learn new skills and tasks related to road maintenance and equipment operation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
  • No CDL required, but previous experience with road maintenance equipment is a plus.

Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate of $26/hour.
  • Flexible Schedule
  • Gain valuable experience in public works and road maintenance.
  • Opportunity for potential full-time employment after the seasonal period.

This position is perfect for anyone seeking summer or part-time work with the potential for more. For the right candidate, this role could evolve into a full-time opportunity. With advanced training to help you earn your CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).

If you’re looking for a rewarding seasonal job, enjoy working outdoors, and are eager to learn and grow, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Join us and make a meaningful impact while advancing your career!
